 Rescuers retrieved four bodies Wednesday that were buried by a landslideon a motorway in Taiwan, police said.

 

The landslide occurred Sunday afternoon about 20 kilometres northeast of Taipei, blocking traffic between the capital and the port city of Keelung.

 

"These victims were those whose families had reported missing since the landslide," a police spokesman said.

 

The military sent 600 soldiers to join 400 civilian rescuers to search at the scene with dozens of earth diggers and trucks.

 

The landslide measured about 100 by 200 metres, totaling about 100 tons of earth, police said.
