So, many of you have been asking about ways to strengthen your Speaking foundation, for of course the ultimate goal of nailing your TOEFL Speaking test.
Here are 6 tips for you guys: 以下教授 6 招托福口說必殺技

1. Boost your Listening ability
Listening and Speaking always go hand-in-hand. Besides, Parts 3-6 of TOEFL Speaking do require you to listen to short talks. Thus, by training your ear, you'll be able to practice both Listening and Speaking at once. Nice way to kill two birds with one stone, eh?
As for WHAT to listen to, well, there are plenty of free resources, such as TED.com, VOA, and news reports online.

Feel free to pick any topic you are interested in, and just try to grab the keywords and main idea of each.

2. Practice shadowing 練習shadowing
HOW to do it?

Step 1: Pick a or conversation or talk that you've never heard before.
Step 2: Play it for about 5 seconds, then pause.
Step 3: Try to REPEAT what you just heard.
Step 4: Keep playing the file for 5 more seconds.
Step 5: Repeat Step 3.
This can train your short-term memory as well as the ability to put words you just heard into correct sentences.

3. Mimic the tone and accent of speakers

Play the conversations or talks while reading transcripts out loud.
This can train your speaking speed, tone, accent and fluency.

4. Practice conversations on a daily basis – the more the better

You can talk about ANYTHING in your daily life, from what just happened on the news, to your hobbies, to even simulated scenarios. For example, imagine you are being pulled over by the police. What would you say? How would the police officer respond? And so on.

5. Work on the same question 3-5 times continuously for time management

On your own or with your teammate, try answering the same question 3-5 times. You'll find that you get better and better every time. I guarantee it.
This can also help you memorize your template better. I'm sorry, but it's a test after all. And templates definitely help! (Use questions from your OG, TPO or other test-related sources.)

6. Do NOT Think the Chinese way!!!

The Chinese logic and English logic are totally different (Basically, the Chinese language does not care that much about logic.).
Therefore, you should NOT think in Chinese when giving an answer in English.
This will not only impede your thoughts, but also lead to what I call "Chenglish mistakes".
Instead, picture a scene or concept in your mind.

應該是 "I am happy today."

It may be hard to train yourself to pull away from this "addiction" in the beginning, but if you keep trying and disciplining yourself, the habit of 中翻英 will eventually fade. Guaranteed !

If you can work on some or all of the tips mentioned above, I promise you WILL indeed improve a lot in a relatively short time. For more pointers or questions, please feel free to contact me!
